New York, NY -- Bert and Matthew Karlin, President and Vice President of The Nemo Tile Company, are pleased to announce the arrival of Charlotte Barnard as the company’s Creative Director. In this newly formed role, Barnard will be responsible for the continued strategic development and strengthening of the Nemo brand, including oversight of marketing and communications strategies. Barnard brings more than 20 years of media, marketing and retail experience to her new position and will focus on enhancing Nemo’s position as one of the New York City area’s most respected resources for tile and stone.

“We are confident that Ms. Barnard’s considerable experience and impeccable reputation will be a strong asset to The Nemo Tile Company and play a major role in the continued growth of the brand,” said Matthew Karlin.

Prior to joining Nemo, Barnard held senior positions with the Hearst Corporation and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and has served as a sought after lifestyle and consumer-trend expert.

2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition winners

This year, the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition, an annual awards program sponsored by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission, attracted the most competitive pool of projects in the contest's history. The winning projects speak to the A&D community's commitment to using a material that is technically advanced, aesthetically pleasing and manufactured with a focus on sustainability. Nine projects in three categories were recognized: residential, institutional and commercial. The grand-prize winners include a century-old, three-floor adaptive re-use project (Schaefer-Graf Residence), a 675,000-square-foot entertainment arena (Barclays Center) and a LEED-certified government building (NIST) in addition to six projects who received honorable mentions from the jury.
