Florim USA has introduced "Ecowood" to the North American marketplace. A glazed porcelain tile, each tile is produced using High Definition Graphic (HDG) Technology.

"Ecowood" is a rustic tile range replicating the inherent beauty of natural hardwood. Offered in five unique colors -- Noce, Wenge, Rovere (pictured), Avorio, and Multi-Color -- two size formats are available: 6- x 24-inch pressed and 6- x 36-inch rectified. Complementary "Ecowood" trim pieces 6- x 12-inch cove-base, and 1- x 6-inch corner pieces are included, as well. The 6- x 36-inch rectified format is a brand new size produced by Florim USA.

Made in the U.S., "Ecowood" has a DynamicCoefficient of Friction (DCOF) rating of >0.42; making it an ideal choice for nearly any application (residential/commercial; indoor/outdoor). Additionally, all "Ecowood" materials contain 40% recycled content, making projects which include "Ecowood" tiles eligible for LEED points.

Florim USA will soon be introducing an 18- x 36-inch size format, providing the unique opportunity to cut and rectify longer size formats, such as the new 6- x 36-inch tile.

"Our R & D department spent so much time in developing Ecowood to replicate natural wood, both visually and texturally, very few people will be able to tell the difference," stated Stefano Rabaioli, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Florim USA. "But unlike wood, this product offers the unmatched durability and ease of maintenance which only porcelain tile has to offer."

2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition winners

This year, the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition, an annual awards program sponsored by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission, attracted the most competitive pool of projects in the contest's history. The winning projects speak to the A&D community's commitment to using a material that is technically advanced, aesthetically pleasing and manufactured with a focus on sustainability. Nine projects in three categories were recognized: residential, institutional and commercial. The grand-prize winners include a century-old, three-floor adaptive re-use project (Schaefer-Graf Residence), a 675,000-square-foot entertainment arena (Barclays Center) and a LEED-certified government building (NIST) in addition to six projects who received honorable mentions from the jury.
