Laticrete, manufacturer of construction solutions for the building industry, has announced the 10 year anniversary of its SpectraLock® Grout product line.

"SpectraLock was a revolutionary product when it was first launched a decade ago," said Jonathan Scott, Product Manager. "It offered all of the benefits of an epoxy grout such as superior stain resistance, non-fading colors and incredible durability. Yet, it installed with the ease of tried-and-tested cementitious grouting products. Over the years, Laticrete has continued to improve the performance of the SpectraLock product line. Presently, SpectraLock Pro Premium Grout is the industry leader in epoxy grout."

SpectraLock's breakthrough technology includes having Microban® anti-microbial protection, it's GreenGuard certified to improve indoor air quality and meets ANSI A118.3 specifications for chemical-resistant, water-cleanable tile setting and grouting epoxy adhesives. Since its inception, it has provided limitless design possibilities with its SpectraLock Dazzle™, a unique design component that adds metallic and "glow-in-the-dark" enhancements to SpectraLock. Additionally, it is the #1 contractor preferred brand of epoxy grout, based upon a comprehensive 2011 report from Clear Seas Research.

In celebration of 10 exciting years, Laticrete will conduct two in-booth promotions at its exhibit # B3831 during Surfaces 2013, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, January 29 – 31. One will consist of extremely talented mosaic artists displaying their work. This "mosaic art gallery" will be comprised of unique, museum-quality creations with SpectraLock Grout. "Dazzle was used in all of these creations," said Ryan Blair, Laticrete Channel Manager. "There will be a number of new Dazzle colors being unveiled at the show, as well."

Paul Reiss, co-founder and Creative Director of Artaic, a Boston-based firm which has developed modern technology software and hardware that "makes mosaic artforms more accessible and affordable," used its state-of-the-art expertise to create the large SpectraLock icon which will be featured at the center of the mosaic display. "Our programs even incorporate a 'grout selector' when choosing colors for mosaic creations. Clearly, the Laticrete palette of grout offers an excellent collection of colors which integrate nicely into our programs."

Because Surfaces takes place just before the Super Bowl, Laticrete will tie-in with the national football craze in a second in-booth promotion, it's SpectraLock Touchdown Promo. Contestants will have the opportunity to throw mini-footballs through a hole in an oversized inflatable SpectraLock pail. Contestants will be awarded entry tickets to be used in a drawing to win one of ten Apple iPad® Minis. "This promotion will be a fun and exciting event for attendees as they join in the celebration of SpectraLock," added Maria Oliveira, Corporate Marketing Manager.

This year, the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition, an annual awards program sponsored by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission, attracted the most competitive pool of projects in the contest's history. The winning projects speak to the A&D community's commitment to using a material that is technically advanced, aesthetically pleasing and manufactured with a focus on sustainability. Nine projects in three categories were recognized: residential, institutional and commercial. The grand-prize winners include a century-old, three-floor adaptive re-use project (Schaefer-Graf Residence), a 675,000-square-foot entertainment arena (Barclays Center) and a LEED-certified government building (NIST) in addition to six projects who received honorable mentions from the jury.
