Spectrum Awards and retail science to be featured at Coverings 2006
Coverings 2006, the industry's dedicated tile and stone show, will take place April 4-7 in Orlando, Fla. The huge event will draw more than 1,200 exhibitors from 50 countries. Show organizers say they plan to welcome more than 32,000 attendees from all corners of the industry: distributors, retailers, fabricators, contractors and specifiers, architectural and design professionals, builders and real estate developers.
Coverings 2006 will also play host to the annual Spectrum Awards, which recognizes the most creative and innovative uses of ceramic tile in both residential and commercial installations. The awards have risen in prominence in the ceramic tile industry, and regularly draw crowds to see the who's who of the business. An independent panel of judges from the tile, architecture and design communities will announce the $10,000 grand prize winner April 4. Additionally, the panel will award a total of $8,000 among first prize and merit winners in both the residential and commercial categories.
Also at the opening session on April 4, keynote speaker Paco Underhill, a retail anthropologist and best-selling author, will present information on the science of shopping. His presentation aims to offer insight into the psyche of consumers and their buying habits, and draws examples from Underhill's book "Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping."
