The Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA) recently wrapped up its 2004 Management Conference in Cancun. Visitors from all over the world attended the event, to participate in educational/motivational sessions as well as networking events in the sunny locale.
Keynote speaker Capt. Charlie Plum, a former Vietnam POW, kicked off the conference with his vivid recollections of surviving six years in a 8-by-8 foot jail cell, and drew parallels between his experiences and day-to-day challenges faced by everyone.
The CTDA inducted two members into the CTDA Hall of Fame - S.M. Van Kirk, former executive director of the CTDA; and Sam Widener of Winco Tile, a wholesale ceramic tile distributor with locations in Johnson City and Knoxville, Tenn.
Also at the conference, Donato Pompo, president of the University of Ceramic Tile and Stone, unveiled CTDA's new online education program.
CTDA is slated to hold its next Management Conference Nov. 10-13 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. For more information, telephone (800)-938-CTDA.
