Cevisama, the International Ceramic Tile and Bath Furnishings Show, celebrated its 25th anniversary this year in Valencia, Spain and continued its tradition of being on the cutting edge of architecture and interior design as 137 of Tile of Spain’s branded manufacturers unveiled their newest products and design innovations for 2007.

The Feria Valencia, exhibition site of Cevisama 2007, played host to 96,000 trade professionals and 12,000 foreign buyers from 147 countries.  Tile of Spain manufacturers introduced visitors to the latest techniques currently fueling a demand for creative ceramics that imitate natural aesthetics.  New trends such as fabrics and animal hides as the inspiration for ceramic tile texture stole the show at Cevisama, sparking even further interest in the seemingly endless possibilities available from the Spanish ceramic tile industry.

The trend sparking even greater interest so far this year is that of wood, steel and stone inspired tiles.  Wood-inspired tiles, especially, are making great strides to become even more aesthetically pleasing.  The surfaces of these ceramic tiles look identical to that of a finished wood plank floor; yet refuse susceptibility to dangers such as water damage and daily wear and tear in even the highest of traffic areas.

Cevisama upheld all expectations throughout its silver anniversary, delivering quality products, as well as quantity with respects to its levels of new design and innovation.  Ceramic tile manufacturers were especially noted as delivering an unforgettable show.

Onix never fails to deliver pure, modern luxury. Shown here are Onix’s 1”-by-1” opal white and beige glass mosaic tiles that sparkle against the bright colors of this youthful yet sophisticated space. Onix specializes in making glass mosaics and offers 14 different product lines allowing for countless mosaic combinations. The tiles are made from 100 percent recycled glass.

The strength of Spain’s ceramic tile industry even reached ears outside of the world of architecture and interior design this year. During a dinner held by Cevisama before the show as a thank you to loyal companies who have exhibited continuously for the past 25 years, Victor Campos, Vice President of the Generalist (the Valencia regional government), commented on his belief that Cevisama’s growth throughout the past 25 years is directly related to the innovation, creativity and cutting edge technology of the ceramic tile industry.  Other government officials, along with representatives from the ceramic tile industry, were also in attendance.

The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturer’s Association (ASCER) is the private organization whose primary objective is to support Spain’s ceramic tile manufacturers and the industry as a whole by stewarding and promoting the Tile of Spain brand worldwide.
