MAPEI Corp. will soon double the size of its Garland, Texas, plant. The groundbreaking ceremony for the addition of 79,000 square feet that will be dedicated to warehousing and distribution, and will also allow for further production capacity increases planned for the middle of 2008, the company says.

Additionally, the new facility will include space for the MAPEI’s Technical Institute (MTI).

“Contractors in Texas and surrounding states we serve from the Garland facility are driving our production to new levels,” said Rainer Blair, President and CEO of MAPEI Americas. “We are confident that this trend will continue as our commercial sales growth continues and as residential construction in this area recovers. We are investing now to provide our customers with an industry benchmark level of service as their business grows.” The expansion is expected to be completed by July 2008.

The Garland plant manufactures grouts and mortars for tile and stone installation; waterproofing and moisture-mitigation products; adhesives for carpets, wood and vinyl flooring; and repair mortars and underlayments for concrete restoration systems.

The first product in the MAPEI line to benefit from this Dust-Free Technology will be the company’s Ultraflex™ 2 mortar, which will be manufactured at the Garland plant.
