Aalto to unveil waterjet-designed mural during Coverings
March 21, 2008
In a combined effort between Creative Edge, the Coverings trade exposition and Communicators International, Inc., guests at Coverings 2008 will be greeted with a waterjet cut mural designed by Harri Aalto, co-owner and waterjet artist of Creative Edge Mastershop, Inc.
Utilizing a fusion of bright and bold colors with varying textures, this tropical Florida-inspired mural was created using precision waterjet-cut porcelain and glass tile products, held together with installation system materials from LATICRETE International, Inc. The tile material used for this expansive mural included solid-color porcelain from GranitiFiandre and glass products by Color Mirage™ (a decorative glass product line recently introduced to the market by the Applied Coatings Group).
Thousands of precision-cut, beautifully colored pieces make up the waterjet artistry that will be permanently mounted outside of the new Orange County Convention Center at the South entryway -a prominent location that is visible from International Drive. All Coverings attendees are welcome to be present at the unveiling of the mural on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, the first day of the show, at 11:00 a.m.
“The Orange County Convention Center is honored to permanently display this work of beautiful artistry and skillful talent,” said Kathie Canning, deputy general manager. “We are excited to have the Coverings trade expo back again at the Center this year, and the unveiling event will be a terrific way to kick-off the show.”
“For the second year in a row, Creative Edge has designed an eye-catching waterjet mural for Coverings, and we are pleased to present such an impressive display of artistry by one of the show’s exhibitors to the Orange County Convention Center,” said Glenn Feder, president, client events at National Trade Productions.
