I’m one of those people who can’t draw a straight line with a ruler. It’s because of my lack for visual creative ability that my admiration for handmade creations (sculptures, paintings, and other media), and appreciation for the artisan has developed into what it is today.
It is for that reason that I wanted to be personally involved in the “Artistic and Handmade Tiles” feature in this month’s issue (see page 22). Without knowing what kind of response I would receive, I put out the call to industry friends, and made a few new ones along the way. Not only was I pleasantly overwhelmed by this close-knit community’s zeal, but I was also happy to know that TILE Magazine played a role by providing a forum to voice their concerns and opinions.
Also noteworthy in this month’s issue is an in-depth feature on Kitchen and Bath Trends by Michelle Stinnard (see page 14). With the upcoming NKBA/KBIS set for April 11-13 in Chicago, we’re sure this article will whet the appetite of even the most experienced architect or designer.
Lastly, but certainly not least, is our extensive pre-show coverage of Coverings (April 29-May 2, Orlando, FL). Get a sneak peek at some of the products and manufacturers you will be seeing in our Showcased Products section starting on page 8. You can also preview what the Brazilian and Spanish manufacturers have in store for attendees (detailed in the Tile of Brazil and Tile of Spain columns, respectively). Look for a special extended Tile of Italy column on our website - highlighting what several Italian manufacturers will be showcasing at Coverings.
With so many in-depth features this month, I don’t want you to overlook our first-ever Surfaces Extravaganza product focus starting on page 54. We hope the collaborative effort between web portal Flooring Insider, TILE Magazine, National Floor Trends, and Floor Covering Installer magazines will be helpful as a business resource.
