Inside, visitors were treated to new installations throughout the 30,000 square foot, multi-level building. The entry level showcased ten-foot-high “Flower Power” panels made from hand-cut opaque, iridescent and transparent glass mosaics blended with metallic Colibri and 24k gold tiles. Suspended from the ceiling are giant mosaic sunflowers, and under foot is Cosmati, blending laser cut Murano glass with marble.
At the showroom’s rear, is a 40-foot panel of exquisite mosaic butterflies. Made from hand cut mosaics, the butterflies are set against a pixilated background of whole mosaics with varying tones from light to dark. The surface shows two techniques in one composition and illustrates SICIS’s artistry and technical abilities with mosaics.
Additional floors were open to guests and featured installations contrasting both artistic and pixilated designs using the same materials to illustrate the stark difference.
