The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has appointed Rebecca Flora Senior Vice President, Education and Research. She replaces Peter Templeton, who was named president of the Green Building Certification Institute in mid-November. The appointment is effective January 15, 2009.

Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, USGBC, said “Rebecca’s leadership as executive director of the Green Building Alliance in Pittsburgh makes her uniquely qualified to lead USGBC’s far-reaching education program and expanding research initiatives,” said. He further noted, “Under her guidance Pittsburgh rightfully has become a national leader in green building market transformation.”

Flora, a LEED AP, holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science from Plattsburgh State University of New York.
