Despite difficult international economic and real estate market conditions, organizers of the recently concluded 27th edition of Cersaie report that the number of Italian visitors rose 2.4% from 2008 (59,999) while international attendance totalled 23,188 (27.8% of overall attendees).

Exhibit space for Cersaie 2009 was sold out. The total space of 176,000 square meters hosted 1,036 exhibitors from 34 different countries, of which 510 represented the ceramic tile sector. There were a total of 241 foreign exhibitors. Cersaie confirmed its total attendance of 83,137 visitors (compared to last year’s 84,537 - down 1.6%).

“This edition of Cersaie was memorable for the presence of authoritative figures from the world of architecture and design,” say show organizers.

Further, “The first edition of the cultural project ‘Building, Dwelling, Thinking’ was very well received, featuring the participation of numerous authoritative speakers and above all a keynote address given by the master of contemporary architecture Renzo Piano, who received a standing ovation from the whole of the Palazzo dei Congressi di Bologna.”

Planning for Cersaie 2010 (Bologna, Italy, Sept. 28 to Oct. 2) is currently underway.
