The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) has named immediate past president Paul Zuch as its chairman of the board.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) has named immediate past president Paul Zuch, CR, of Capital Improvements in Allen, TX, as its chairman of the board, and elevated Michael Hydeck, MCR, CKBR, of Hydeck Design Build in Telford, PA, to the office of president.

“Through hiring a lobbyist in Washington, a diligent Government Affairs Committee and allied partners, we have effectively connected with key Congressmen to raise issues that face our members,” Zuch says. “NARI leadership is committed to this effort and the other efforts identified in our strategic plan and our newest initiative, collecting remodeling research.”

Hydeck assumed the role of president after serving as president-elect for the past year. His experience in NARI leadership dates back to 1994, as one of the founding members of the DelChester NARI chapter and then a three-term run as chapter president. He was regional vice president from 2004 to 2007 and has most recently served on the national board of directors since 2007.

“My focus this year will be membership development and retention,” Hydeck says. “The Joint Center for Housing Studies predicts remodeling activity to increase by 3.5 percent in the third quarter of 2011, and I intend to position NARI front and center in the eyes of contractors as our industry gains momentum. At the same time, we’re keep homeowners abreast of new laws and industry trends, and NARI’s resources to help them find a professional contractor.”

Additional newly elected officers include: president-elect Dean Herriges, MCR, CKBR of Urban Herriges & Sons Inc. in Mukwonago, WI; Treasurer Fred Spaulding, CKBR, UDCR, of Quality Home Improvements Inc., in Kingwood, TX; and Secretary Art Donnelly, CR, CKBR, of Legacy Builders & Remodelers Corp., in Holbrook, N.Y.

Moreover, Paula C. Goedert of Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Chicago serves as general counsel and Mary Busey Harris, CAE, as NARI’s executive vice president for its national headquarters. The elections took place at the Westin Jersey City Newport in Jersey City, N.J, on April 2, 2011.
