Portland, OR-based handcrafted artisan tile maker Clayhaus Ceramics has entered into a partnership with modwalls®, perhaps the largest web-based seller of modern tile and wall coverings, whereby modwalls becomes the exclusive distributor of "Clayhaus for modwalls®," a line of Clayhaus product domestically produced for the chic online dealer.

The Clayhaus for modwalls product line consists of a collection of ultra-mod 2"x8" smooth glazed ceramic tiles in seven classically modwalls colors including a vibrant green named "Wheatgrass," an energetic orange "Zest," and a fresh blue called "Splash." The partnership has also introduced the "Symbols" collection with three colors of "Plus" shape tile that can be mixed and matched to create a completely custom ceramic tile installation. Additional "Symbols" shapes are in development.

"This collaboration makes perfect sense for us," said Megan Coleman, Clayhaus co-founder and director of sales and marketing. "Modwalls' brand presence and market penetration fits perfectly with our customers' appreciation for mid-century architecture and modern design."

Modwalls was founded by husband and wife team David Bousfield and Rebecca Lonergan in 2005 and has since become one of the leading sources of modernist-inspired tile and coverings, primarily through online sales to both retail and trade customers. Modwalls' approach is unique in that the company stocks its offerings in order to provide faster turnaround on order fulfillment. The vast majority of artisan tile makers, including Clayhaus, generally work on a made-to-order basis, which is necessary due to the custom nature of most orders.

"Our partnership with modwalls provides us an excellent means by which to service customers who want our products but for whatever reason can't wait to receive their order," Coleman said.
