Earlier this month, American Olean sponsored Purdue University’s INhome solar home in the Solar Decathlon 2011, a solar house competition in Washington D.C., sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy to help educate the public about reducing energy use without sacrificing style and comfort.
As part of the competition, collegiate teams from across the country, designed and built affordable, energy efficient, solar-powered homes. To support the INhome’s sustainable design, American Olean sponsored the Purdue team with a donation of some of American Olean’s most environmentally friendly tile products.
The earthy tones of American Olean’s Pozzalo glazed ceramic tile, featured in Coastal Beige, brought a classic, travertine look to the Purdue INhome’s bathroom space. Pozzalo contains both pre-and post-consumer recycled material content (RMC%), enhancing the sustainability of the home. In addition, American Olean’s Candalara and Legacy Glass collections provided a distinct accent to the INhome’s bathroom shower, featured in English Ivy and Pewter.
