New Ravenna Mosaics is proud to announce the hire of Alex Potchatek as Chief of Operations (COO). Reporting to Sara Baldwin, founder and CEO, Potchatek will be responsible for all factory/studio operations and brings 25 years of proven leadership experience to Exmore, Va., the home of New Ravenna. New Ravenna specializes in made-to-order stone and glass mosaics in myriad colors and finishes.
"Alex has run plants all over the world, mostly in the aero-space industry -- each of these factories manufactures custom cast-metal parts," said Baldwin. "He will apply the engineering and operational knowledge he has accumulated to New Ravenna's equally complex processes, procedures and culture. Ultimately, our goal is to optimize our customer's experience in order to stay top-of-mind whenever they need luxury surfaces."
Potchatek received his BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and began his career as an engineer working for Allegheny Technologies (NYSE: ATI) designing and manufacturing aerospace products. After a series of promotions, he was recruited by Precision Castparts Corporation (NYSE: PCC). During his tenure at PCC, his positions included Engineering, Production, Lean Manufacturing, Operations and General Management. During this time, he earned his MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and was recruited to Alcoa (NYSE: AA) as General Manager of their large aerospace production facility. After achieving record profits, he was recruited by a firm in Dallas to lead their oil and gas manufacturing operations.
Potchatek calls Virginia home and is thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the success that is New Ravenna.
