From Barcelona to Grenada, Moorish design influences permeate Spanish culture, arts, language and cuisine. This is evident in a "lantern shape" seen throughout Spain in plaster, stone and ceramic. In a simple twist of medium, Bellavita has chosen fused glass to breath new energy to the shape. Waterjet cutting and clever adaptations of ancient glass molding technique come together to make the Andalucìa Collection sparkle like the Mediterranean. The visual result is inspired by the unique blend of ancient and modern found on any Spanish street. The subtle ripple on the surface of the glass comes from the texture on the rear-face creating surface highlights and hidden depths. When the textures are coupled with the deep and subtle color palette, it brings a distinctly European style and sophistication to any setting.
"Classic shapes are everywhere in design today," said Mike Ward, VP of Sales for Bellavita Tile. "The Arabian lantern motif makes so much sense in glass with the luminescence and overall vibrancy color-fused glass provides."
