ORLANDO, FL -- This April, tile and stone specialists and enthusiasts alike will head to Orlando for Coverings -- the industry's largest international exposition in North America. From April 14 to 17, 2015, the Orange County Convention Center, located at the heart of the city's tourist district, will open its doors to industry experts, architects and designers for four days of inspiration, professional development and networking. A trail of red, green and white will lead the way to Ceramics of Italy'sPiazza Ceramica (Booth #4823), the open gathering spacelocated in the heart of  the Italian Pavilion. Featuring an Italian-style café and coffee bar, as well as an information booth, attendees can fully immerse themselves in the expo, which will feature nearly 70 influential Italian brands.

Piazza Ceramica and the Italian Pavilion

Once again, e+i studio's talented and innovative New York-based team will be designing the award-winning Piazza Ceramica, incorporating contemporary Italian design with the vibrant energy of Orlando. Around 3,000 square feet of space will be transformed into an open, engaging piazza, with brilliant colors echoing Florida's bright, sunlit ambiance. The exhibit will showcase a range of products from leading Italian manufacturers including: Atlas Concorde, Ceramiche Caesar, Emilceramica, Floor Gres, Lea Ceramiche and Marazzi. The floor tiles will be a focal point of the design, set on a raised flooring system and water jet-cut to create an undulating pattern. The installation and maintenance of the space will be facilitated by grout, nosing and cleaning products donated by Mapei, Profilpas, and Fila Chemicals.

The piazza will offer guests a space to take a break from the busy trade show halls, enjoy traditional Italian cuisine, and engage with Italian tile connoisseurs. Glittering, tiled slopes will flank the piazza, showcasing the craft of tiling and housing the café, coffee bar and information booth. Below the tiered seating above, Italian culinary duo Carlo Donadoni and Graziano Sborggio, of Miami's Spuntino Catering, will prepare coffee and pastries for breakfast, an authentic Italian lunch, and an open aperitivoin the afternoon.

Installation Design Showcase

To demonstrate the symbiotic relationship between beautiful products, imaginative design and expert installation, Ceramics of Italy has partnered with architect Diana Chase, AIA from Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock/Architects Inc. (HHCP) and a team of NTCA Five Star contractors from Michael's Custom Tile to participate in the show's annual live attraction: the Installation Design Showcase (361B). During the four-day show, this team will construct a California-rustic resort spa vignette, adding Florida's west coast counterpart to the amalgam of cultural influences that will be present at the show. The chic, high-end design will showcase naturalistic tiles from a number of Italian companies including Cotto d'Este, Floor Gres, Marca Corona and Rex Ceramiche. Keeping with the bath's luxurious feel, the vignette will feature fixtures and furnishing from Hansgrohe and Axor. All tiles will generously be donated by the various manufacturers and Specialty Tile Products, and all grout and setting materials will be provided by Mapei.
