Editorial: Delving into 2018
For those of you who have not met me yet, allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Heather Fiore and I’m your new editor of TILE Magazine. Next month marks my four-year anniversary with the company, and to be honest, I couldn’t be much happier.
Over the last four years, I’ve gotten to know a bunch of great people in this industry. I’ve also managed to develop meaningful relationships that I hope to continue for the years to come. There is so much to learn in this industry, and the range of possibilities and opportunities are seemingly endless — which continues to drive my passion.
In this edition, we delve into moisture control, which generally arises during installations in wet areas. What precautions should you take prior to these types of installations? Should other “dry” areas be considered? What are the best products to utilize? You can read more about how moisture-related issues were treated and prevented when constructing a new NHL arena in the Technical Focus, beginning on page 42.
Looking for products to use during your projects? Make sure to check out a range of industry-recommended products for moisture control in our tailored product showcase, beginning on page 14.
To kick off the New Year, we are also beginning a new Q&A series, known as the “Contractor Spotlight.” The goal of these one-on-one interviews is to highlight a range of industry efforts by professionals, while also lending advice to other professionals in the field. You can read more about the first professional featured, Kyle Peters, on page 12. If you or anyone you know is interested in sharing their story and being featured in one of the 2018 issues, I’d love to hear more. Email me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To everyone I have yet to meet: Happy New Year and I hope we cross paths soon. Best wishes for the start of a great year.
