Selected from more than 500 companies by an international jury of architects, designers and creative directors, Lea Ceramiche was awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum for the excellent design and innovation of its Slimtech Concreto collection. Designed by Arch. Fabio Novembre, the series won in the “Building Materials” category. The collection was awarded the 2018 Good Design Award, one of the most important and historic international design awards.

Concreto Slimtech by Fabio Novembre explores the theme of cement with a hyper-realistic representation of cement surfaces. Through the 6-mm-thick Slimtech slabs in large formats up to 120 x 260 cm, the different textures and colors articulate the collection, which consists of five different colors and four variants. These decorative elements enhance the textured effect of laminated stoneware through high-tech thin slabs.

The award therefore recognizes over 15 years of passionate and committed work by Lea Ceramiche, which has aimed to transform ceramic from a simple and traditional building material to a crucial decorative element for interiors and architecture. The high technology of Slimtech slabs and the company’s deep knowledge of the material, combined with Fabio Novembre’s creativity, has resulted in a collection with a contemporary design that is suitable to any living environment and for large supplies. Combining extraordinary lightness, strength and sustainability with a production that has a reduced environmental impact in terms of raw materials and CO2 emissions, Concreto Slimtech is also the best-performing material in the construction of buildings with low energy consumption.
