FIORANO MODENESE, ITALY -- The Rilievi collection by Cedit Ceramiche d’Italia recently received the iF Design Award 2019, one of the most important international product design awards in the world, which is annually bestowed by a panel of industry experts.
The series, designed by Zaven | Enrica Cavarzan & Marco Zavagno (awarded in the “Product” section of the “Textiles/Wall/Floor” category) was selected from 6,375 products from 52 countries by 67 design experts. It was singled out for its aesthetic characteristics, innovative content, versatility, functionality, environmental impact (from the production stage to its disposal) and other specific qualities.
Previewed at the 2018 edition of Fuorisalone, Rilievi overturns the traditional rules of ceramic tile creation; three-dimensional elements with different geometric forms and colors decorate the large slabs by Cedit, transforming walls and spaces into imaginative scenarios that constitute real works of art.
Rilievi is the outcome of work to transform the two-dimensional sign into volume, which the two designers have been pursuing for some time. The collection plays on the modular repetition of a three-dimensional element that is always arranged in a different way. It is an authentic sculptural project that combines the excellence of craftsmanship with the qualities of industrial production, the two key factors in Cedit’s DNA.
The award was introduced in 1953 and is annually awarded by the iF International Forum Design, the world’s oldest design organization, based in Hannover. The nominated products are judged on their innovation and uniqueness, as well as their aesthetic impact.
The award ceremony for this 65th edition will take place on March 15, 2019 in Munich, Germany, at the BMW Welt Exhibition Center.
