Last week, I had to pleasure of attending the very first virtual Total Solutions Plus. Despite all of the hurdles industry organizations and companies have been forced to overcome during the last eight months, I was impressed at the level of attention and detail that was put into each and every daily session. It was also nice to see some familiar faces, which I haven’t seen in what seems like ages, and I’m sure everyone that was able to attend can agree.

There was certainly no shortage of educational information. In actuality, I think it was nice to gather together online in a more personalized format, with the presentations directly in front of me. I also noticed the high number of attendees in each of the sessions I attended, which was a positive sign that this pandemic isn’t really stopping the tile industry from moving forward.

Although I do miss the face-to-face aspects that events like this present, I was still able to take away a plethora of knowledge about current industry happenings and occurrences, as well as developing standards and other important areas of discussion. It was a total success and my hat is off to the handful of organizers that helped bring the event to life, including the Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA), Tile Contractors Association of America (TCAA), National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) and Tile Council of North America (TCNA).

As we head into 2021, I am optimistic that I will be reporting about the return of in-person events and tradeshows in the near future. We’ve come so far already as an industry, and with the uptick in construction, I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. Until then, I wish you all a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.
