SASSUOLO, ITALY -- There were over 750 entries from all over the world for the Archiproducts Design Awards 2021. Crogiolo Rice by Marazzi won in the “Finishes” category because it provides a “unique concept, and represents excellence in creativity, technology and research.”
Also, because it embodies a theme which runs right through the various categories, sustainability, meaning the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials and state-of-the-art production technologies that minimize environmental impact.

Thanks to the in-depth research into glazes and color involved in its development, Rice is a contemporary reinterpretation of handmade majolica brick tiles, with all their density of glaze, shine and beautiful imperfection given new life in porcelain stoneware.

Rice is available in 15 x 15, 5 x 15 and 7.5 x 20 cm for complete modularity, in four colors – Blu, Grigio, Bianco and Natural – and in four decorative variants to enable original wallcovering effects.

The name Crogiolo references Marazzi’s 1980s research center, established to experiment with craft techniques and arts applied to ceramic materials. It was a hotbed of ideas that were ahead of their time and combined creativity with industrial production.
