In recent months, we have all regretfully watched the downfall of several industries, including that of several once great American icons. I’m not going to dwell on the gloom-and-doom, because there is plenty of that already. Instead, I am going to bring to light a glimmer of hope, one through which you can make your voice heard.

Recently, we received a special bulletin from The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) advocating a proposed tax credit plan aimed at stimulating home improvement item spending.

The request comes after The WFCA joined a coalition (American Home Furnishings and Building Products Coalition, which includes 10 other home furnishings and building products groups such as the Carpet and Rug Institute and NWFA), which is creating a proposal designed to help jumpstart the industry.

The plan proposes temporary refundable consumer tax credits and retailer/distributor/contractor tax credits. Details of the coalition and its progress will be forthcoming by the WFCA.
