Spring, which arrives next week, not only signals the end of winter, it also marks the time when all things in nature are rejuvenated. The same applies for the business world, specifically the tile industry.
Although there are several expositions and conferences occurring worldwide, all within a month’s span, I’ll focus on three: Revestir (Sao Paulo, Brazil); Unicera (Istanbul, Turkey); and Coverings in Chicago.
Revestir, set for March 24-27, will be showcasing sustainable environmentally friendly products by several manufacturers including those that have incorporated items such as recycled fluorescent light bulbs, PET (recyclable), and mineral residues into their tile products.
The Unicera International Ceramics and Bathroom Fair in Istanbul, Turkey, is an international trade fair set for April 1-5. This is where the Turkish ceramic industry meets annually to unveil the newest products and technologies.
Look for frequent blog updates while I’m attending Unicera. Having been born in Istanbul, I’m eager to see and experience the country where my parents and grandparents were born and raised.
Finally, Coverings in Chicago (April 21-24) is already showing promise as the business-increasing event of the year with four days of informative seminars and workshops aimed at tackling issues specific to the tile and stone industries. In addition to the business-building skills, Coverings’ exhibitors will be offering the latest trend-setting designs and materials, including an increased amount of sustainable and eco-friendly products.
If you find you’re unable to attend these exhibitions, then rest assured because TILE’s senior editor John Moore and I will bring the highlights from these shows to TILE’s homepage (www.tilemagonline.com). Check back often!
