Architects uncovered an unexecuted mosaic tile design, which was slated for the wall of one of UCLA’s buildings, and brought it to life using tiles from Artaic
Near the end of 2017, UCLA sought to renovate its Botany Building, which is home to the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department. Thanks to an initial $5 million donation from alumnus Morton La Kretz, followed by an additional $15 million donation last year, the ongoing renovation was made possible.
The ceramic tile industry has grown substantially in recent years and a big percentage of the growth is seen on exterior installations. This can be for multiple reasons, including a cleaner, more contemporary look, better mortars and grouts, and large-format and gauged porcelain tiles.
The new entrance to the Palma Intermodal Station in Palma, Majorca, Spain includes an overhead roofing structure, which features around 8,000 custom-designed ceramic tiles that were locally produced
The Palma Intermodal Station is the main railway station of Palma on the island of Majorca, Spain. Although it is situated in the center of the city at the Plaça d'Espanya, when it was built in 2007, it was hard to find since the main access is located underground between two historical buildings.
The American Airlines Flagship Lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA) features a range of porcelain tile, accented by glass mosaics, which add a sophisticated touch to the upscale club
In February 2016, American Airlines (AA) unveiled plans to complete major renovations to its network of Admirals Club lounges. With that came the introduction of its Flagship Lounges, which offer premium amenities for international passengers, transcon domestic first-class and business-class passengers, and Oneworld members.
Without some degree of surface preparation, it’s highly unlikely that a concrete slab or wood-framed subfloor will be flat enough to meet the requirements for large-format tile. A quick check with a straightedge often shows that a small area or perhaps the entire surface dips and undulates outside of industry standards.
For the last five years, Artaic and Bostik have hosted the Design ‘N Gather competition, which invites students, architects, designers, artists and other industry professionals to utilize Artaic’s Tylist™ program to create a mosaic that will be permanently installed in an exclusive location.

Flooring adhesive manufacturers have been chasing the moisture resistance levels that were possible with black cut-back adhesives for north of 35 years. This was a solvent-based adhesive, asbestos-containing adhesive, which was extremely durable and water-resistant.
