TCAA President Vincent P. DeLazzero, II presenting the 2004 Cesery Award to John J. Sekora.

Close to 80 contractors and 50 suppliers attended the Tile Contractors' Association of America (TCAA) 96th annual convention, held late September in Olympic Valley, Calif.

The convention offered contractors the chance to meet and greet, attend technical seminars, forums, and panel discussions, and see the latest products from TCAA suppliers. One of the highlights was a morning session in which attendees could talk with John Flynn, president of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC), and Joan B. Calambokidis, president of the International Masonry Institute (IMI).

At the convention, John J. Sekora, CEO of Artisan Tile & Marble Co., Somerset, N.J, received the coveted 2004 Cesery Award. Among his achievements, Sekora was the president of TCAA from 2000 to 2001 and served as chairman of the organization's scholarship committee. He has also served as president and treasurer of the New Jersey Tile Contractors' Association and is the author of "Ceramic Tile in 20th Century America."
