Cersaie 2005, held Sept. 27-Oct. 1 in Bologna, Italy, is the largest international exhibition of ceramic tile, related accessories and bathroom furnishings, with more than 1,000 exhibitors from 32 countries worldwide. This year, more than 88,500 people made the trek to Bologna to witness firsthand the latest trends in ceramic tile design. Presented here are some of the many new ceramic tile designs unveiled at Cersaie 2005.

New from Keraben is Caledonia, a series of porcelain tile with a natural stone look. Designed for walls and floors both inside and out, the series is available in 6.5-, 13- and 19.6-inch square tiles. Colors are Antrazit, Noce, Crema, Blanco and Beige.

Pitrizza is the newest addition to Cersarda's Tropici Italiani collection; the series is available in nine sizes and 19 colors, and includes accents, square and rectangular mosaics, trim pieces, lava stone worktops and coordinated ornamental ware.

Ceramica Bardelli's new series, Body Park, was designed by architect Nigel Coates and features designs based on the human form. The series comes in 20-by-20-cm format and features four different designs.

Panaria's Ethos series recreates a cosmopolitan stone inspired by different cultures and historical periods. This interior floor and wall tile collection comes in two colors and five modular sizes.

RHS presents Sky, a colored body porcelain stoneware collection that is suitable for interior floor and wall applications. The series is available in three colors: cream, silver, and black, and three sizes.

Lea's Stonehenge collection comprises natural tiles from which light is diffused subtly, as well as lapped tiles which have a special worn look. The series is available in five sizes and five colors, and includes decorative and mosaic pieces.

Chiaroscuro is a new series from Ceramica Fioranese available in a 20-by-40-cm format, with 20-by-20-cm decorative pieces featuring floral designs, geometric shapes and lettering.

Gabbianelli's Hibiscus series features hand-painted floral designs; the collection of double-fired tiles is available in 20-by-20-cm format in four colors with a glossy finish.

The Atlante collection from Ceramica di Treviso is a mosaic series based upon wallpaper designs, and is available in 1-by-1-inch formats in a variety of bright colors.

Neutra is the first collection in the Casamood line from Casa dolce Casa, a project that combines matching tiles, adhesives, paint and decorative pieces into a comprehensive system. Neutra is characterized by neutral shades and a touchable density.

The Metalskin collection from Cerdomus combines a clean-edge contemporary look with a unique surface finish (available in natural and satin) with a hint of texture. The collection is available in six colors, white, blue, grey, chestnut, black, and sage green, and three sizes.

Espace is a new full-body porcelain series from Majorca designed to imitate the look and texture of natural wood. The series is available in five colors: ivory, beige, wenge, grey and black; and four sizes.

Appiani introduces its new Lingotto series. The series is composed of 10-by-40-cm format wall tiles that are ideal for residential settings.

Available in natural colors, Edilgres Sirio's Tibet series features textured surfaces and plays of light and dark for a sophisticated effect, the company says. Tibet is available in the colors of Almond, Beige, Grey, Taupe and Sea, and four sizes. Decorative mosaics round out the line.

Emilceramica's Fashion series is inspired by simple contemporary furnishings that have severe shapes yet luxurious and refined details. The chromatic range includes four colors, Light, Soft, Smart and Minimal, and four sizes, 15-by-60, 45-by-45, 30-by-60 and 60-by-60 cm. Decorative strips and trim pieces are also available.

Tau introduces the Rauda line of floor tiles. Available in the peppermint-like colors of red and white, Rauda features a 13-by-13-inch, large-format size and ease of installation, according to Tau.

The Leo Series by Azteca offers unique formats for custom installation ideas. Leo Beige is available in 13-by-19.75-inch format. Leo R46 comes in Beige, Gris, Verde, Marron and Negro in 13-by-18-inch format. Leo 33 is offered in the same colors with a 13-by-13-inch format.

Gardenia Orchidea presents Paradise, a glazed porcelain tile available in two large formats (13-by-13 and 20-by-20 inches). Paradise floor tile comes in the colors of Avorio (Ivory), Noce (Walnut) and Almond, and is available with special trims and decorative pieces. These trims and pieces include mosaics, skirting tile, bullnose tile, bands and insets.

The Sarawak collection from Settecento Valtresinaro features extra-long sizes in a wide range of accents. The tile comes in three pale colors (Ivory, Mist and Sky), three dark colors (Moka, Pearl and Powder Blue) and is available in both a smooth surface and a canvas texture.

Grespania introduces Natura, a wood look porcelain stoneware collection. Available in six finishes, the line is eco-friendly, according to the company.

Roca Ceramica presented its new Rainbow series at Cersaie 2005. The series uses different formats combined with neutral mosaics to yield endless color combination possibilities. The series is especially designed for decorators and architects.
