Mapesonic SM from MAPEI aims High at sound reduction
June 28, 2007
MAPEI has introduced Mapesonic SM, a sound-reduction and crack-isolation sheet membrane that is applied to substrates before ceramic tile or stone is installed. As a result, Mapesonic SM reduces the transmission of airborne sounds from voices, music and television, as well as impact sounds such as footsteps, dropped items and moving furniture through floor-ceiling assemblies, the company says. In addition, the sheet membrane prevents in-plane substrate cracks up to 3/8” (10 mm) from transmitting through the tile installation. For details, circle 162 on the Reader Inquiry Card.
