Promoted by Confindustria Ceramica in cooperation with BolognaFiere and organized by Edi.Cer SpA and Promos, Cersaie annually attracts more than 83,000 international attendees. With nearly 1,000 exhibitors, it is a platform for design-driven products and state-of-the-art architectural solutions.
Last year’s event featured product displays from exhibitors who hailed from 31 countries. Tile manufacturers comprised approximately 172,480 square feet of internal exhibition area, with ceramic product, equipment and installation companies occupying approximately 15,239 square feet of the available outdoor exhibition space.
Highlights of this year’s “Building, Dwelling, Thinking” conference program include: a keynote speech by 2011 Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Souto de Moura on Friday, September 28, a talk on “Design Goes Sci-Fi” with American science fiction writer Bruce Sterling and Italian designer Cini Boeri on Tuesday, September 25, and a presentation by Heike Hanada on her design for the new Bauhaus Museum in Weimar on September 27.
Some of the trends expected at this year’s show include monolithic porcelain slabs and self-laying floors, bold geometric patterns, textured tiles inspired by terra-cotta, wood, concrete and stone, and three-dimensional ceramic wall tiles in a monochromatic color palette. In terms of designer collaborations, Italian tile manufacturer Ricchetti will introduce its second tile collection with fashion icon Roberto Cavalli, Refin will launch a new collection called “Frame” with graphic design firm FM Studio, and Mosaico+ will unveil a new 4-mm-thick mosaic with artist Carlo Dal Bianco.
In addition to a large contingency of Italian tile manufacturers, it is expected that 152 Tile of Spain-branded manufacturers will also be exhibiting at Cersaie 2012.
This year marks the 30th edition of Cersaie — the annual International Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings Exhibition in Bologna, Italy — that will take place from September 25 to 29, 2012.
