The gated resort community of Beaver Creek, CO, contains one of the most prestigious collections of private vacation homes in the country. Nestled into one of the many hillsides within the resort is an expansive 7,000-square-foot home, which was recently renovated with Lambert Tile & Stone, partnering with Custom Building Products, to resemble that of a rustic mountain retreat.

Beaver Creek is a premier resort community outside of Vail, CO, near Avon. The high-end resort community comprises three villages — the main Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead — and is home to many exclusive residences, with vacationers enjoying both winter skiing and summer golfing. This particular vacation home — featuring eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms, including a suite with a separate entrance, showcases panoramic views of the Vail Valley.

Although well-dressed on its exterior with distressed wood and stone masonry, the private residence was in need of an interior update to reflect the tastes of its new owners. Based in Eagle, CO, Lambert Tile & Stone is a 5 Star Contractor with the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) and was hired by the homeowner and general contractor to renovate the home.

Dan Lambert, owner of Lambert Tile & Stone, and his team of five professionals, were tasked with installing tumbled stone tile in the bathrooms, mudroom and laundry room. The designer called for a rustic stone tile to be used throughout the bathrooms and kitchen for the project, so Lambert Tile & Stone partnered with Custom Building Products to complete the installation and carry out the designer’s vision.

When Lambert Tile & Stone attended Total Solutions plus in 2012, Custom Building Products was showcasing its new product Fusion Pro ®Single Component Grout at the Table Top event. Lambert mentioned to them that they had already tried it and were excited with the results.  When Custom Building Products saw how enthusiastic Lambert was about its new product, they contacted him and asked if there were any upcoming projects where they would be using Fusion Pro Grout and could they come out to Colorado and photograph it.

A Urethane grout was originally specified for this Beaver Creek project, but Lambert thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use Custom Building Products’ patent-pending Fusion Pro Single Component Grout™.  Fusion Pro offered the stain resistance and color consistency that was needed for the project, while also being easy to spread and clean.

Lambert and his team utilized Custom Building Products’ Fusion Pro Single Component Grout along with RedGard® Waterproofing and Crack Prevention Membrane, Spider Web Uncoupling Mat, Marble and Granite Mortar, Pro Light® Tile and Stone Mortar and LevelLite® Self Leveling Underlayment for this installation. “This provides us with a complete system warranty and gives us peace of mind,” said Lambert.

Fusion Pro also includes Microban® antimicrobial protection, which works continuously to inhibit growth of damaging microbes such as bacteria, mold and mildew that can cause stains, odors and deterioration on dried grout. These qualities were particularly important for this project, as the stone tile applications were in the kitchen and bathrooms, which are wet areas.

Stone tiles were installed in the showers and on the floors; and in the professional appliance kitchen, the stone tiles complement the ornate decorative ceramic tiles used for the backsplash.

Lambert and his team are all certified tile installers through the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF), so all of the work was completed following current Tile Council of North America (TCNA) and NTCA specifications. “Luckily this project didn’t have a whole lot of challenges, except for trying to stay on schedule, even with multiple snow storms and cold weather to contend with,” said Lambert. “Overall, the job came out beautiful and the homeowners love their new mountain home.”

Lambert Tile and Stone appreciates all the technical support it receives from Custom Building Products and for their support of the tile installation community.
