Last year, The International Surfaces Event (TISE) was created. The event, which was formed to combine three well-known industry trade shows — Surfaces, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas and TileExpo 2016 — was such a success that it will be held again this year. Like last year, the show will return to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, where it will take place from January 19 to 22, 2016. Exhibits will be open from January 20 to 22, with educational programs scheduled from January 19 through January 22.

Described as “a mega event, featuring the most extensive display of floor covering, natural and engineered stone, tile products and educational offerings in the world,” TISE is being held during Las Vegas’ Design & Construction Week, consisting of four tradeshows throughout the city with over 1 million square feet of exhibits, which are expected to attract more than 110,000 visitors collaboratively.

“We are excited to host the global floor covering, stone and tile professional community at The International Surface Event 2016. Attendees are expected from across the entire U.S. and over 90 countries in the world,” said Amie Gilmore, Show Director for TISE. “Additionally, our second annual partnership with Design & Construction Week® will offer a unique expanded opportunity to view products and services for remodeling professionals.”

TISE’s ultimate goal is to showcase the newest products, hands-on demos, inspiring trends, key manufacturers and industry suppliers — along with unmatched education and networking. As the largest, unparalleled floor covering, stone and tile industry event in North America, this annual event brings together buyers and sellers from all over the world to see the latest products, trends, services and technologies the industry has to offer.

“Our goal is to create a trusted platform for floor covering, stone and tile professionals to obtain valuable, relevant and accredited education and to advance their skill-set, know-how and personal growth,” said Jennifer Hughes, Education Manager for TISE. “We’re also looking to incorporate several new formats in the 2016 program, including more peer-to-peer roundtables for networking and idea exchange, as well as brown bag lunch sessions.”

In order to pinpoint the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the industry and address applicable education needs of our attendees, an Education Advisory Council is assembled each year. Comprised of dedicated individuals with a vested interest in improving the overall industry through education and training, each member brings their unique perspective from the field they represent. This collaboration brings together balanced, well-informed and structured educational ideas. TISE’s 2016 (West) Education Advisory Council includes Alex Bachrach, formerly Group Publisher of Stone World, TILE, Floor Trends, Floor Covering Installer, Contemporary Stone & Tile Design and current Group Publisher of Architectural Record and SNAP; Bart Bettiga, Executive Director, Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF); Brian Gracon, PhD, Owner & President, Brian Gracon & Associates, Inc.; Jay Jacobs, National Sales Manager, Congoleum Corp.; and Brett Miller, Vice President, Education and Certification, National Wood Flooring Association.

New floor features

Each year, TISE incorporates some staple features, which always attract large crowds, but this year, the show is proud to announce a trio of new events that were designed to amass even more of a crowd.

To “spice up the show floor” this year, TISE has incorporated two new features, including the TISE Living Magazine and IGNITE Education Program. The TISE Living Magazine is a new twist to one of the most favored show features, The Trends Hub. This year, The Trends Hub is modernizing into a sleek, contemporary “Living Magazine,” where attendees will have the ability to take a 3D walk through a magazine-like experience featuring the forecasted trends and colors for interiors for 2016/2017, product samples, and interactive social media and trends sessions.

The newly developed IGNITE Education Program will offer participants proven strategies for increasing a company’s profitability and productivity. In this program, participants will learn best practices and the latest technology to help increase their bottom line and network with industry leaders to get answers to the challenges faced in their business. Carefully crafted into the program are courses to assist industry professionals in navigating and targeting key growth areas for their business.

TISE will also feature a special historical event, the Mannington 100 Year Celebration, hosted by Salem, NJ-based, Mannington Mills, Inc., a world leading manufacturer and producer of luxury flooring and residential and commercial sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl, laminate, hardwood and porcelain tile floors, commercial carpet and rubber.
