Relationships Inspiring Social Enterprise (rise) was formed in 2016. A nonprofit organization, rise links aspiring social entrepreneurs in vulnerable communities in low income sub-Saharan African countries to essential resources they don’t otherwise have access to in their local communities through its professional network of architects and designers.

It also created a student-driven competition, Rise in the City, whichis currently open to students and graduates who have studied architecture and graduated within the last 5 years. Each student will be mentored by an architecture firm of their choice.

The challenge is to design affordable urban housing in Lesotho for less than $3,750. To learn more, read this design brief.

The registration deadline is Sunday, September 30. To register or learn more about rise, visit www.riseinthecity.com.
