MEDINA, MN -- Anyone who has cut a dado or groove at a router table knows that it’s a messy job. As you push the workpiece into the bit, a jet of dust shoots out the front of the cut, off the table and into the air, creating a mess -- and a breathing hazard.
Rockler has an award-winning answer to this problem: the Dust Right Router Table Dado Dust Chute. It mounts to the outfeed end of the router table, in line with the bit, and connects to a shop vacuum or dust collector to capture that stream of dust with a combination of suction and a height-adjustable barrier of bristles.
“The Dust Right Dado Dust Chute is unlike any other product on the market, and you really need to see it in action to fully appreciate how well it works,” said Steve Krohmer, Rockler’s vice president of product development. “It catches almost all of the dust coming out of the dado, which means there’s less dust on the floor and in the air.”
The patent-pending Dado Dust Chute was designed for Rockler router tables but also can mount to the underside of other tables that have at least a 3-inch overhang on the outfeed end. At the top, it has a bracket with bristles that can be raised or lowered to stop the jet of debris from the bit and to dislodge any dust left on the underside of the workpiece or in the groove. It also has a port with a 2 1/4-inch inside diameter and 2 1/2-inch outside diameter that connects to standard 2 1/4-inch dust hose, as well as to a variety of other fittings. A built-in blast gate allows users to cut off suction at the table, and the Dado Dust Chute extends far enough under the table that it even captures dust falling into the fence-mounting slots.
The Dust Right Router Table Dado Dust Chute (57495) is priced at $24.99 and can be purchased online at www.rockler.com or at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide, as well as through the Rockler catalog.
