ANN ARBOR, MI -- Motawi Tileworks’ Frank Lloyd Wright Collection of decorative tiles is expanding with the addition of two new offerings: 6- x 8-inch Saguaro in a Rainbow colorway and 6- x 6-inch Storer House. Motawi’s Frank Lloyd Wright Collection features Wright-inspired tile art pieces and installation elements. The company has been licensed to produce tile based on Wright’s iconic work for more than a decade.

6- x 8-inch Saguaro ($160) is now available in Rainbow, as well as its original Green colorway. The art tile is based on “Saguaro Forms and Cactus Flowers,” a cover design Wright submitted to Liberty magazine in 1927. While the design was rejected by editors as “too radical” at the time, it is now one of Wright’s most popular, thanks in part to the Saguaro stained-glass feature at the Arizona Biltmore hotel.

6- x 6-inch Storer House ($54) is a sculptural relief tile based on one of Wright’s textile block designs for the John Storer House. Constructed in 1923 in the Hollywood Hills, the Storer House was the second home to feature Wright’s Textile Block System, the technique of joining decorative concrete blocks together with reinforcing steel rods to create elegant interior and exterior walls. Originally released for retail in 2008, Motawi’s remastered Storer House tile has rejoined the collection after a hiatus and is available in Emerald and Moonstone glazes.

Both tiles can be purchased online at and in the Motawi gallery (170 Enterprise Drive in Ann Arbor). Motawi art tiles are also sold in more than 300 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

“It is a true privilege to work with Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs,” said Nawal Motawi, owner and artistic director of Motawi Tileworks. “Reimagining Wright’s work in ceramic tile form is an exciting challenge each time. We are proud of the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection we have produced over the years and very pleased to add Rainbow Saguaro and Storer House to our retail line.”
