The International Surface Event (TISE) is the largest North American floor covering, stone and tile industry event. This year’s edition was held from January 27 to 30 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, where it welcomed hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of attendees.
On November 21 and 22, 2019, renowned porcelain artist, Roberto Colonetti, hosted a free workshop at The Stone Shop in Ankeny, IA. Colonetti, who is known for his innovative installation techniques, travels to countries all over the world to give hands-on demonstrations of his methods.

This year marks 40 years that the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) has been in existence. Established in 1947, the non-profit trade association is dedicated to the professional installation of ceramic tile and natural stone.
In 1987, a new product category was launched in the North American tile industry called an “uncoupling membrane.” The product, an orange membrane, was made of polyethylene ribbed in one direction and had a polypropylene mesh heat-bonded on the underside.

The University of Ceramic Tile and Stone (UofCTS) just released an updated version of the popular “Tile Installer Thin-set Standards (ITS) Verification” course.The U.S. and Canadian versions of this course were updated, as well as the Spanish version.
