Ultra-Set® Advanced by Bostik is a one-part, trowel-applied, elastomeric waterproofing/crack/sound isolation membrane and setting adhesive. Use as a waterproofing, crack and sound isolation membrane over properly prepared concrete; structurally sound, exterior-grade plywood (interior/dry use only); cementitious backer board; and existing, well-bonded vinyl/VCT or ceramic tile prior to the installation of ceramic or stone tile. Ultra-Set® Advanced may be used with gypsum-based underlayments in dry, above grade installations with minimum compressive strengths of 2,000 PSI.
Custom Building Products’ RedGard® Uncoupling Mat
Designed to be compatible with polymer-modified thinset mortars in accordance with TCNA guidelines for the installation of today’s tile types, Custom Building Products’ RedGard® Uncoupling Mat is an environmentally friendly crack isolation, waterproofing and vapor management membrane for tile, porcelain and natural stone installations over most substrates. It’s lighter than traditional backer boards and requires no dry time so flooring contractors can complete projects quickly and easily. In addition, RedGard Uncoupling Mat is eligible for U.S. Green Building Council LEED MR4 credits.

This gypsum-based patch has no chemical curing to interfere or react with other materials so it is compatible with almost any condition. Use White Skimcoat™ to smooth cracks, joints or other imperfections in concrete, wood, metal, vinyl, ceramic tile or other subfloor surfaces. It covers virtually any surface. Just add liquid, apply and dry.
Prova Flex-Heat® by Loxcreen Flooring Group
Prova Flex-Heat® by Loxcreen Flooring Group is a versatile underlayment that eliminates the cause of cracked tiles with Shear Stress Control® patented technology. It can be installed with multiple sizes of cables which allows for choice in heating systems to suit the end user’s need for a warm tiled floor. At 6 mm thick, it can also be installed without a heating system and used in applications where tile needs to be raised to meet thicker flooring surfaces. Open air channels beneath the membrane allow moisture to dissipate, making Prova Flex-Heat® great for below grade installations over concrete.
Fracture Guard FD
Fracture Guard FD is a low VOC, fast-drying crack isolation membrane specifically formulated by Merkrete for same-day tile installations. Fracture Guard FD provides a thin protection layer to inhibit substrate crack transfers up to 1/8-inch. Because Fracture Guard FD is a liquid-applied membrane, it conforms to any shape or pattern, thus allowing endless architectural designs. Used on both residential and commercial interior and exterior applications, Fracture Guard FD exceeds ANSI A118.12 and offers essential crack prevention protection to the finished tile and stone surface.
MK Diamond SDG-7
The portable, walk-behind MK Diamond SDG-7 is designed to grind concrete surfaces, leave a smooth finish and provide dust control. Utilizing a 7-inch diamond cup wheel, contractors can use the SDG-7 for grinding, cleaning and leveling concrete floors. The SDG-7 Surface Grinder is perfect for removing thick coatings like epoxies and urethanes, adhesives, thinset mortar, rubber, floor coverings and waterproofing materials. The SDG-7 features the MK-IXL vacuum dust shroud that is ready to attach to a vacuum or dust collection system to reduce respirable dust and save time during clean-up.
ECB®
ECB®, the original crack isolation membrane, is a self-bonding, sheet-applied, elastomeric membrane from NAC Products, designed for use under floor surfaces that require protection from structural movement. ECB® substantially reduces reflective cracking and delamination between the substrate and floor surface and will protect up to 3/8-inch lateral substrate movement. ECB® exceeds ANSI A118.12 for crack isolation membranes, is ideal for use with radiant-heated floors and has a rugged topping which allows heavy traffic areas to remain open. The GenieMat™ RST by Pliteq
The GenieMat™ RST by Pliteq is an advanced underlayment for superior sound and vibration reduction. It’s perfect for high-rises, multi-family housing and commercial buildings where sound reduction is essential. The GenieMat™ RST can be used directly under hard surface floor finishes, including direct-adhered tile, stone, wood and vinyl; and installs easily over concrete and wood-frame construction. It also meets light commercial rating (or better) when tested to ASTM C627 for all thicknesses. Composed of 94% recycled rubber content, the GenieMat™ RST is engineered for superior sound control and crack isolation.
Schluter-System’s new Ditra-Heat-TB
Schluter-System’s new Ditra-Heat-TB is the first electric floor warming system with an integrated uncoupling and thermal break. The thin thermal break on the underside of the membrane allows the system to warm tiled floors up to 70% faster over concrete substrates by directing heat to the tile, not to the subfloor. The all-in-one system means faster and simpler installation as the uncoupling membrane, heating cables and thermal break are all combined in a single layer. The system has all of the same attributes as Ditra-Heat, and the total assembly is only 5/16-inch thick to minimize construction height.
